Passamaquoddy have lived and flourished within their homeland at least since the time when the Laurentide Ice Glaciers melted away from this part of North America, about 10 to 14 thousand years ago. The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Indian Township is dedicated to preserving their way of life and are missioned to: provide a full spectrum of civic programs to heighten the overall well-being of all citizens in the community; increase economic opportunity for the community and its members by supporting the expansion of existing businesses and fostering economic growth with new commercial ventures; increase living family values in the community, care for community and individual health through education, prevention and effective treatment; promote higher education values throughout the community; fulfill their governmental commitments to the community and custodianship of our environment.
